Forest School Level 3 Training

2025-2026

The training covers one year and our offer comprises of five days face to face experience in the woods.

Two sessions of assignment support, one session of observation in your own Forest School setting.

You will be trained and supported to develop your own working Forest School.

You can use the PE and Sports Premium Funding for this training. For other sources of funding please see our Policy page.

The next arranged training is-Cohort 7:

Start date March 2026 end date March 2027

However as soon as we have 5+ on our waiting list we can arrange a new, earlier cohort of training, convenient to all learners.

We will playing out in the woods in West Lancashire. Exact locations will be given out when you are booked on. We usually forage in Ramsbottom, Chorley or Rivington.

*If you need the face-to-face training to be closer to your school- book on 5 or more learners and we will find a woodlands near you!

Forest School Level 3 Leader Training Open Award Accredited Certification

You can use the PE grant to fund this enrichment.

A one year course that comprises of:

five days face to face initial training
skills and knowledge to set up your own Forest School
learn how to use tools; light fires;forage for food; cook the food on the fire (and eat it!)build shelters!
complete five assignments, which cover the paperwork you need to deliver Forest School
two days online or face to face mentor support;
guidance on how to weave Forest School through your curriculum
you will learn the benefits and value of bringing Forest School to your children and how to measure the success and how to share this with stakeholders;
develop a five year plan, risk assessments, policy and handbook
receive a one day observation and support in your own Forest School setting.

Bespoke In-School Work

£1,500.00

Fungi leaders can come in to your school for a half term and work with a small group of children over six weeks. We will work with the school to carry out a baseline assessment and create a bespoke experience for those children. Ten to twelve children is an ideal number. Ideally we would use a quiet wooded area in your school, or a corner of the field. If this is not available we can use our woodland space. Children behave differently in Forest School. After 6 sessions they will demonstrate increased self-confidence, improve their language and physical skills, be more able to use their imagination and bring this back into school with them!

Open Awards Accreditation

Level 3 training needs a 16 hour Outdoor Pediatric First Aid qualification to practice. We work with Centaur Training to provide this training. Scroll down for the link to First Aid training.
