I am eager to undertake The Fungis 555 Forest School Leader Level 3 training. This certification will qualify me to safely design, implement and run a sustainable outdoor learning programme on our school grounds, or local woodlands.

Rather than just an ‘extra-curricular’ activity, embedding Forest Schools into our provision solves several critical challenges we face in the classroom:

• Tackling Behavioural Issues at the Root: Outdoor learning provides a high-engagement environment for children who struggle within traditional classroom walls. Studies show a significant drop in behavioural incidents and a massive boost in classroom focus after regular outdoor sessions.
• Targeting Pupil Premium and Wellbeing Goals: This holistic approach directly supports our most vulnerable students, building emotional resilience, self-esteem, and collaborative skills that narrow the disadvantage gap.
• Dynamic Risk Management: This training includes robust, accredited modules on health and safety, site assessment, and dynamic risk assessment, ensuring the school is fully compliant and protected.

The Investment and Funding Options:

The total cost for the course is £997. However, because of its measurable impact on student mental health and physical literacy, many schools successfully fund this training using:

• Pupil Premium Funding- to support disadvantaged learners
• Inclusion Mainstream and SEND Funding- to support neurodivergent learners
• Standard CPD for staff budgets- to develop staff knowledge and skills

By investing in this training, the school gains a long term asset: a fully qualified, in-house leader, capable of delivering transformative outdoor education week after week, without the ongoing cost of external providers.
